EC2 Console: developer specification posted

Check out the dev spec posted here (for this project).
Most notable about the spec: we’ve got a plan for how to bootstrap a Windows AMI (Amazon Machine Instance) in such a way that we can have it immediately (but securely) install an arbitrary MSI package on boot. This is going to be a cool tool!

Dan, one thing that would be cool is the ability to automate the shutdown and startup of the same machine.
what i mean is… When you have a machine set up and running the way you like it, if you want to shutdown that machine (and not pay for it to be running) and restart it later (say a couple months later), you have to either “bundle” your original machine or initiate a new instance and then either way re-configure it the way it was. ie add volumes etc.
Would be a great feature to allow for shutting down a machine and starting it back up down the road in the same state that it was. Good for intermittent server use.
