SmartUtil is now Certified for Windows Vista

I’m happy to announce that JW Secure’s SmartUtil smart card utility has been Certified for Windows Vista.

What does that mean exactly? Well, basically, that SmartUtil was well designed, well tested, and that it works really well too ;) And furthermore, that it was tested not only by JW Secure, but also by an independent lab that has been vetted by Microsoft.

Find SmartUtil on the official certified list by clicking on the graphic below and doing a text search in your browser for smartutil.

  1. Hi Dan!

Thank’s very much for this fine tool. I was using the command line version and donwloaded the GUI-version recently.

There seems to be a problem in both version. SmartUtil enumerates all files in mscp and receives a list that contains cmapfile and one or more kx???-files. It then tries to read cmapfile (and all the other files in mscp) but leaves the directory empty in CardReadFile. The card module will therefore lookup cmapfile in the root directory and returns a FILE_NOT_FOUND-Error.

Have a look at the second screenshot at http://www.jwsecure.com/downloads.shtml . Do you notice the “(could not read)”-messages to the right of every file in mscp!

    Peter
